Don’t get me wrong, I love both characters, and I love them together. But I love them as what they are, friends with feelings for each others. And that’s all. Because, that’s the beauty of it, the fact that they’re not functionnal at all, the fact that they will never be together, they will never say the fact that they love each other. And I loved the fact that they both fell in love with other persons, those loves were true too. I would have really hated to see Starbuck and Lee together as a couple, that would have ruined everything.
